Targeted denitrification technology through macroporous resins

Principles of technology

The macroporous resins for denitrification remove the nitrate nitrogen and reduce the total nitrogen of effluent water primarily by filling macroporous nitrate ion exchange resins into resin tanks to absorb the nitrate in wastewater. The macroporous ion exchange resins are obligate nitrate ion exchange resins, with stable property and high denitrification efficiency. The nitrate nitrogen, with a removal rate of over 99%, can reduce the total nitrogen to lower than 1mg/L.This technology has overcome a series of difficulties effectively at low cost, such as degradation-resistant organic contaminants, advanced removal of total nitrogen, total phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen and other indexes, and wastewater recycling, etc.

Technological superiority

1. The total nitrogen concentration of effluent water can be kept below 1mg/L steadily. The standard limit for III-grade surface water in lakes and reservoirs can be reached at low cost.

2. The engineering economy is favorable and the direct operating cost is low.Compared with double-membrane process, the investment of this technology accounts for 56.9% of that in double-membrane process, the floor space 46.7%, and the direct operating cost 49.8%.

Application cases

The demonstration project of advanced treatment from tail water to III-grade surface water (lakes and reservoirs) in Tangxun Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant with a standard of 15,000 m3/d is the first international case that treats the municipal wastewater to III-grade surface water through advanced treatment and drains it into lakes directly.
